The Phantom of the Opera
All videos are in VOB unless otherwise noted. Most screenshots are not my own: the dates that are underlined are the ones that I have taken (I only download the musicals/plays when I have time to patiently wait for my internet). Please cite my site if you take them. If you see your own screenshot here, email me and I will put your name up or take it down. As my internet connection is very weak, if you request screenshots please note that it will take about 3-4 hours after I read your email to provide screenshots to you.
1991 (Florida, USA)
David Staller, Elizabeth Walsh, Christopher Rath, Beth McVey
*Rosen and Shierhorn's version, multi-camera proshot. The quality is amazing for a video this old! Before looking at the date I thought this was filmed recently.

Ernst-Dieter Suttheimer, Colleen Besett, Timothy Breese, Dietrich Hergt, Horst Reeh (u/s), Linda Healy (alt), Claudia Rose Golde (u/s), Sergio Lombana, Eva-Maria Weber (u/s)
*Pro-shot on a tripod with soundboard audio, a majority of the right side of the stage is blocked. Dark with quite a lot of generation loss. However, you can make out facial expressions.

July 1995 (London)
Ethan Freeman, Jill Washington, Simon Bowman
*Proshot by RUG. Fuzzy picture, some color loss in darker parts, and hard to see face expressions except in the occasional closeups. Quite a bit of spotlight washout, but big picture and has survived fairly well for something so old. Very nutball Phantom in Ethan Freeman, nice classical Christine in Jill Washington. Simon Bowman is a surprisingly good Raoul, considering how his Phantom turned out.

Hugh Panaro, Sandra Joseph, John Cudia, Jeff Keller, George Lee Andrews, Patricia Phillips, Marilyn Caskey, Larry Wayne Morbitt, Joelle Gates
*Head blocks the bottom of center stage, which can get really annoying but most of the time it's shot around well.

2004 (Budapest, Hungary)
Attila Csengri, Barbara Fonyo, Zsolt Homonnay, Peter Pankotay, Bela Szerenyey, Robert Weil, Patricia Kuthy, Ilona Bencze
*45 minutes of highlights. So many changes to this show, and I'm yet to find out why ALW allowed them, costumes, dialogue and the acting, all 3 there are differences, very interesting to see. Generation loss and dark sometimes.

23 May 2004 (Stuttgart, Germany)
Thomas Schulze (alt Phantom), Maike Switzer (Christine), Carsten Axel Lepper, Ernst van Looy, Jonathan Agar, Barbara Gray Nystrom, Gabriele Ramm, Marchello Ronchietto, Katie Wood
*Final performance in Stuttgart. Blackout in the title song and missing most of Wandering Child. Amazing show. There are several ad libs throughout the show - Mme Giry praises the ballet rats after Think of Me, Raoul says 'Mamma Mia' (show taking the place of PotO) afer Little Lotte, amuzing made up cadenzas in Il Muto and a heart breaking moment in the Final Lair. Slightly blue and green toned with a slightly distorted ratio but nothing too awful. An irritating head gets in the way of STYDI and the end of MotN in front of the mirror but nothing drastic other than that. Filming occasionally shakey but has amazing close ups. In German- no subtitles.

*Gary and Elizabeth's Last: Absolutely amazing video of the two leads' final performance. The video is a multicamera shoot with shots flawlessly edited together, making for almost no blackouts and a ton of closeups. Almost no obstructions and very nice audio as well. This is a fantastic video!
