4 July 2001 (Also listed as 17 July 2011) (Essen, Germany)
Pia Douwes (Elisabeth), Uwe Kroger (der Tod), Carsten Lepper (Lucheni), Michael Lewis (Franz-Joseph), Gabriele Ramm (Erzhogin Sophie), Jesper Tyden (Rudolf), Claus Dam (Max in Bayern), Annika Bruhns (Herzogin Ludovika)
*The video quality is quite good given its age and the sound is clear. Filmed very steadily from the balcony, there are minimal obstructions, although the occasional top of a head does sometimes pop into the bottom of the frame. Also features some extras – Uwe signing autographs and a TV special on the Premiere of the show. Have seen this listed as
17/04/2001 as well, but the date is added at the end of the subtitles and lists the date as 04/07/10.

Maya Hakvoort, Boris Pfeiffer, Reinwald KrannerI’m sad to say Maya was a bit of a letdown as Eva, because while vocally she was great, she was just not fierce enough in most of the songs. However, I loved her Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina, and she was lovely when she was playing delicate and ill. I really dislike the Peron.

Buntrock (Josephus Gage), Simon Jones (Sir Francis Beekman), Deborah Rush (Mrs. Ella Spofford), Sandra Shipley (Lady Phyllis Beekman), Megan Sikora (Gloria Stark)
*Filmed from the back of the balcony. Many heads appear in the frame to start, then when the filmer gets his bearings, the video improves greatly. There are a few times (mostly at the beginning) when the filmer replaces some poor video moments with still shots. These still shots are less than 2 or 3 minutes of the entire show. Overall, a great video, and Megan Hilty is amazing.

Andrew Rannells (Hedwig), Lena Hall (Yitzhak), Justin Craig (Skszp), Matt Duncan (Jacek), Tim Mislock (Krzyzhtoff), Peter Yanowitz (Schlatko)
*Beautiful HD capture of Andrew stepping in to the role. He gives a great performance and makes it his own, with his own jokes and characterizations. Great comparison to Neil and follow up. Lena has only gotten stronger in the role and holds out an amazing riff!
